Virtual Manual

Google Site for Virtual Manual

I did choose to keep a few of the original links, as I couldn't find anything comparable to what was already listed.

  1. I did not find one to replace the media assistant rubric, so I chose to put in questions from an interview instead.

    1. I think the questions are quite helpful. I saw several of these inmy searching and should have thought of placing them in my manual.

  2. I see that you used Alaska's library hanbook as well. I found that one to be a pretty good example. I like how there are so many differnet examples out there that I am seeing a wide variety from the ones I found.

  3. I had a hard time finding replacements for some of them to, and spent several hours looking all over the web. I found one that I wanted to link so bad, but it wouldn't and it was on google docs and just downloaded every time I tried.
    Great job!

    1. I think that I went 11 or 12 pages deep in Google. I should have looked on the databases, but now is too late to have thought of that. I ended up putting my site on the Google Site, instead of Wikispaces or PBWorks because I had trouble with both. Google had its challenges as well, but I think it was pretty user friendly.

  4. The MARIN SCHOOLS MODEL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PLAN you linked is really detailed. It addressed so much and is full of useful information. I like that it includes references. The RHS Library Media Center Request Form you linked is AWESOME! I like that it is all in one place and doesn’t require downloading, printing, copy & pasting, etc. It is fairly short for being so thorough.

  5. University Lab High School has really outstanding procedures. Glad you found it

The Cheating Pamphlet from Lakeview HS is fantastic. I wish I had been clever enough to put something like this together. It is in your face and direct and to the point.

Did you notice that the library clerk position description from Simi Valley required "post high school library science curriculum" PLUS experience? I don't think we would have been able to hire a single clerk with these qualification.

We need a log in in order to see Weston Elementary (collection development)

The form for "Faculty Reommendations for R.H.M.S. Library Materials" -- pretty long -- I wonder if we need that much information? or if the length of the form discourages participation?

Same with the collaborative unit plan - 3 pages?

  6. I fixed the link for the Weston Elementary. I missed it when I was fixing all the doc files.

The RHMS faculty recommendation form is only one form out of about 6 or 7 forms on that page. There was also a student/parent recommendation form, materials and equipment repair form, challenge library materials form, and more.

The collaborative unit plan form really only is 2 pages. The third page only has the words, "Let's Educate Some Students." I think that it wouldn't look so long if the type and pictures were smaller.

I probably did not check out the library clerk job description very closely and would have to say that these are some tough requirements. I agree that it would be hard to post this as a job description, unless they were willing to pay more.

  7. I like your libarian resouce website at the bottom! I think that'll come in handy someday! I'm enjoying seeing what other people found that I didn't. Nice work.
